February street. Its not a place, its a state of mind.

Here is a selection of pictures from the beginning of March.  I've been busy with lots of non-photography related projects these past couple of weeks, but I have managed to take a few pictures.
If you have a photoblog yourself, leave a link in the comments at the bottom, I really enjoy seeing different work.

I try and bear in mind whenever I go somewhere new, the following adage "Always respect the genius of place."  But who said it?  Answers in the comments section please.

Enjoy.

Shopping and playing.  Leisure pursuits of the modern female.

After seeing this sign, I waited.  I thought this image was ok, but waited...

This was the image I was after.

When people are in the street, they have their own concerns. They aren't thinking about photography. Capturing them in their own world is what street photography is all about.

What can I say?

Although not a great image, it reminds me of how a context creates meaning. What you choose to include in the framelines will tell the story.

Pressed up against the window, relaxing.

Not what the sculpturer had in mind.  Then again he shouldn't have placed his statue near the university.

An interesting scene for me. I wonder though what others make of it.  Comments at the end please

I am smoking a fag.

In this celebrity world we live in, its sometimes easy to forget what ordinary people look like.

Psychology test. Do you see a man or wine?

In my hotel room on a trip down to Bristol for my niece's 2nd birthday,

The birthday girl. My other niece and her mum.

Presents get smaller as we get bigger. I cant remember my last present that was half my height.

My niece and her mum (feigning wonder and surprise)

Mention the word cake around my niece and you get this reaction.

I think she is thinking "I don't wanna blow them out, let me look at it a while."

So excited, I though she would explode.

The spoils of birthday.

My hotel room view over the entrance. Classy.

Bird on bird action for the ornithologists out there.

I have the same feeling about technology sometimes.

In order to find what it is I really want to photograph, I've been trying all different subjects. There seems to be something very English about this, even though it is in the city.  And afterall, there is no point trying to photograph England as if it's New York.

I suppose you can't take it in with you, and you can't leave it outside. Still looks odd though.

The range of shapes really interests me here. And it's a scene you see in most cities.

Don't ask. I don't know.

Abandoned.

"10 O'clock Live" on 4od.  This week's show didn't seem as good.  It feels like they are just poking fun for the entertainment. I hope that's not a sign for the way it goes because the first few were really good.

My dictionary.  My language partner told me today his friend can learn 2000 English words a week. I told him that isn't possible. Stalemate ensued.

Up and over.

Detail.

Enter into the light.

Slinking from the darkness. f16 250th 400iso

The morning sun, through the spring flowering bush outside my room.

And that's it for this entry. I hope you enjoyed.
